MON. 2.13.17 - Investigation #6 "Does Language make Humans Different?" discussion (see below) and "How did our Ancestors evolve?" activity (pgs. 13-14 of unit notes).
Today we began examining whether or not humans, and the way we use language (specifically symbolic language) makes us different/sets us apart from the rest of the animal world. First we charted what we already know in the Venn Diagram (pg. 12 of Unit Notes) with our table groups. Then we watched the Bee Dance Video (embedded below), followed by discussion. Lastly, we watched the "Alex the Parrot" video (embedded below), and discussed it in terms of info that would help us prove our thesis (either humans are, or are not different when it comes to language). We will continue this on Monday!
HW - not much, maybe work on vocab a bit, organize/complete parts of notes, or do some Vocab Poster research. Check the #hashtags and @twitter handles (top of entry screen) too if that is something you are into!
Have a great weekend!
